Where Interiors and Brokerage Meet: BTS at the River View Modern House

Our brokerage is informed by real design experience, not just market data. By understanding how homes are improved, styled, and lived in, we’re able to bring listings to market that feel polished, intentional, and ready from day one.

Before 110 Old Albany Post Road ever hit the market, it was already a collaboration—one that brought together Upstate Down Interiors and Upstate Down Brokerage from the very beginning. The goal wasn’t to reinvent the house, but to reveal it: honoring its mid-century bones, improving flow and function, and making choices that would resonate with future buyers while still feeling warm, livable, and true.

Starting with the Foundation

Throughout the home, our interiors team focused on elevating what was already there. Original hardwood floors were refinished and thoughtfully re-stained to bring consistency and warmth from room to room. Fresh paint and careful touch-ups helped brighten the interiors without stripping away character, while dated curtains and hardware were removed to let the architecture speak for itself.

New door hardware and hinges (small details, but impactful ones) were selected to subtly modernize the home while staying in harmony with its era.

Opening Up the Kitchen

The kitchen was the heart of the transformation.

We replaced old tile flooring with oak wood to seamlessly connect it to the adjacent living spaces, immediately improving flow. A wall was removed and replaced with a custom kitchen island, opening sightlines and drawing the eye straight out to the surrounding landscape—one of the home’s strongest assets.

Cabinetry and appliances were reconfigured to better integrate a new Sub-Zero refrigerator, and we guided paint color selection for the cabinets to keep the palette timeless and clean. New faucet and cabinetry hardware completed the space, striking a balance between refined and functional.

Thoughtful Bathroom Updates

Rather than full gut renovations, the bathrooms were approached with restraint and respect for the home’s history.

In the powder room, we selected a fresh paint color, new slate tile, a vanity, and updated lighting—just enough to make the space feel intentional and inviting.

Upstairs, the bathrooms were refreshed with new marble countertops, faucets, and fixtures. Original mid-century square tiles were preserved and regrouted, maintaining their classic appeal while giving them new life.

From Consultation to Closing

Once the renovation work was complete, our Brokerage team stepped in to bring the home to market, armed with deep knowledge of every design decision and improvement made along the way. That continuity is what makes this process special: interiors and brokerage working together, not in sequence, but in conversation.

The result is a home that feels cohesive, considered, and ready for its next chapter.
